The collector purchased this along with the next two lots as a set of three in the Charles A. Schafer auction conducted by Daniel F. Kelleher Co. on Feb. 1, 1974 (sale 518). Before being part of the Schafer collection, this set was part of the Sinclair, Ward, Ferrari, and Hindes collections. One of the other two examples ( ex Lichtenstein, Worthington, Ishikawa, Lilly, Hind, Lafayette and others) has original gum with a few negligible gum soaks. It is now being offered for sale with a PSE certificate graded 70 for $2,500,000.
