Pair of large Chinese carved panels depicting a phoenix surrounded by a heavy floral motif. Mid 19th century. Both having a gilt wood frame with decorative bronze mounts. One having paper tag stating ''Ex Sir William Van Horne[1843-1915] Collection, (Founder of CP Railroad [Canadian Pacific].) 31 1/2''h x 71''w x 7''d.
Condition report
One having wear consistent with age. One having a large horizontal crack due to shrinkage across entire panel and reinforced with a luan panel on reverse.
