FIDDLER WITH EXPRESSIVE FACE. Kerchief at his neck. He seems to be actually playing. This has been taken from a low angle so we have the unexpected pleasure of seeing his shoe and sock and up into the pants leg of the leg draped over the other knee. He must have been making this foot active while playing, generating the idea for taking the portrait from that angle. 1/6 plate daguerreotype in a textured double elliptic mat has overall wipes but retains its lively folk character.
