2 daguerreotypes women dated in image on books

PAIR OF PORTRAITS DATED IN THE IMAGE. Two 1/6 plate daguerreotypes in a double papier mache case with Mother of Pearl and Silver Wire inlay (Berg 6 – 87.) In the left compartment is a portrait of a woman, with "Oct 1853" on the edges of the pages of one of the two books on the table beside her. This image is still sealed. Nice coloration. It is probably the reflector at the right edge. The right portrait has "Jan. 1854" on the book. An unusual presentation. [3]
