2-1/2 pl. ambrotype scenes Kinderhook NY homestead

HOMESTEAD IN KINDERHOOK NY, 2 – ½ PLATES. This is the Van Alstyne Homestead. A full history is given in Collier's "A History of Old Kinderhook," 1914, photocopy enclosed. Kinderhook is south of Albany. A super ½ plate is a look down a dirt road with a stone fence at left, wooden fence at right. 2 horses advance towards us. In the field at right someone is plowing. The barns are in back, the house at right. [4] A second ½ plate shows the house behind its fence, with trees in need of pruning, 2 trees are in protective frames. This has a slip attached with modern pen inscription: “Sunnyside before the porches were added around 1900.” [3]
