Lionel 400E 400T 420 421 422 Blue Comet Set Boxed

Lionel prewar standard gauge Blue Comet passenger set no. 396 in individual OBs. Set includes; 400E loco, 400T tender, 420 Faye Pullman, 421 Westphal Pullman and 422 Tempel observation. Loco has copper trim and boiler bands, white number boards with red lettering and red wheels. The tender and passenger cars have brass nameplates with black lettering and brass journals. The set also contains a reprint of the Lionel Blue Comet advertising pamphlet. Overall the set grades a strong C7-8, with the exception of the cab on loco. Both back corners on cab have paint missing with light surface rust on metal. This loco could be significantly upgraded by fixing these damaged areas. The loco OB has original insert, is sealed on one end, is missing one interior flap and has some tape. The tender OB has all flaps wtih some tape repair. All car OBs have tape with all flaps except for the 422 OB which is missing flaps on one end. This is a very nice example of a matched original Blue Comet set.
