Secretary Bookcase, English, late 18th c.,
mahogany and mahogany veneers with lightwood inlay, two part form, the upper part having an architectural dentil molded top, over pinwheel inlay on capitals above fluted columns, flanking two glazed and mullioned doors surmounted by a frieze of alternating light and dark wood vertical bands, adjustable shelved interior; the lower part having 3 cock beaded drawers, the top one a fall front opening to a fitted interior with central prospect door inlaid with a depiction of a black man attired in 18th c. garb flanked by book form document drawers, pigeon holes and small drawers, all raised on bracket feet.

Some veneer loss, veneer crack to left and right side, some dentil molding loss.
