21. JAMES HAMILTON British General who commanded Burgoyne's 1st. Brigade at Saratoga. Scarce manuscript A.D.S. "James Hamilton Brigdr. Genl.", 3pp. 4to., [n.p., n.d. c. 1780] entitled "Names of the British Officers" listing general staff as well as officers of the Royal Artillery, Canadian Corps, 9th., 20th., 21st., 24th., 30th., 33rd., and 47th. Regiments, all of whom were captured at Saratoga. The top officers in each regiment do not rank higher than Lieutenant Colonel as most of the superior officers had been paroled. In all, Hamilton lists forty nine officers as present. Folds, last page bears vertical fold separation which affects signature, otherwise very good.$500-700
