29. HENRY KNOX 1750 - 1806) American Revolution major general and advisor to Washington, Knox served throughout the war and was responsible for building the Continental Army's artillery stock. Fine manuscript D.S. "H. Knox Sec'y of War", 1p. legal folio, Philadelphia, Aug. 1, 1791 to James Tilton, Delaware Commissioner of Loans, ordering that Joseph McGibbon, an "Invalid Pensioner of the United Sattes" be paid a pension of five dollars per month, from a total of $1,038 paid to the State of Delaware for such purposes the prior February. Very boldly signed, fine condition.$400-600
