Sign In to see what this sold for
30. MARIE JOSEPH DE LAFAYETTE (1757 - 1834) French statesman and military officer who served as a major general under Washington and was instrumental in the defeat of Cornwallis at Yorktown. L.S. "Lafayette" 1p. 4to., Paris, Apr, 18, 1819 in French, in part: "I have reported to my colleague my conversation with Marshal Macdonald. He had requested a letter from Mr. D. de Lascaux which could serve as a basis for a new report... I think it would be better to expand it with more details on the family... I will give it to the Legion of Honor. It seems like a good idea to send our correspondence there..." Small tear neatly repaired on verso, one pinhole at bottom left, otherwise very good condition. $400-600
