38. JOHN MORTON (1724 - 1777) Signer of the Declaration of Independence, a representative to the Stamp Act Congress and a delegate to the Continental Congress. A.D.S. 1p. 6" x 2" [Chester Co., Penn., ca. 1766-69], in full: "By Virtue of the writ to me directed I have Seized and taken in Execution the [?] Land & premises contained in the annexed Inquisition which Remains in my hands unsold for want of Buyers so answers John Morton Sheriff". Apparently cut from a larger document yet complete in itself, boldly signed, near fine condition. $400-500
