116. STEPHEN DILL LEE (1833-1908) Confederate Lieutenant General who directed artillery at Second Bull Run and Antietam, later led a corps at Atlanta and in the Carolinas. Superb early war-date D.S. while commanding the Washington Artillery Volunteers and Hampton's Legion Artillery, artillery under the ultimate command of cavalry general Wade Hampton, 2pp. 4to., "Camp near Colchester, December, 1861", a lengthy requisition for all types of material essential to a cavalry artillery unit, including field guns and caissons, harnesses, 400 rounds of ammunition, cartridges fo "English rifles", friction primers, sponge staves, priming wires, lanyards, wormers, swabs, and so on, all of which are ordered "transferrred to Capt. W. K. Bachman Artillery of Hampton's Legion" and boldly signed with rank at conclusion. Fine. $600-800
