130. ROBERT E. RODES (1829-1864) Confederate major general who was wounded at Fair Oaks, Gaines Mill, and Antietam. Leading a division at Gettysburg, he survived unharmed only to be killed at the battle of Winchester, Va. in Sept. 1864. Excessively rare war-date D.S. "R.E. Rodes Capt. W[arrior] G[uards],", 1p. oblong 8vo., Montgomery, May 13, 1861, a partly-printed receipt for cartridge boxes, waist belts, muskets, corps belts and plates, etc., signed at conclusion. Likely removed from a larger document, yet complete in itself. Fine.$2,000-3,000
