171. KILLED AT GETTYSBURG A very rare war-date partly-printed 1p. 10" x 24" quarterly return for deceased soldiers, "In the field, Virginia" Sept. 30, 1863 listing Sgt. Charles E. Conklin, and Pvt. Ludwig Isler Co. K, 14th (Brooklyn) New York State Militia as being killed in action July 1, 1863. Heavily engaged near the railroad cut during the battle of Gettysburg, the 84th N.Y. had approximately 215 casualties during the battle. Both men are listed as having no inventory to claim towards their back pay. They are now buried in Gettysburg's National Cemetery. Minor fold wear, else very good. $400-600
