178. (UNION PRISONERS AT ANDERSONVILLE) Excessively rare gallery card with albumen photograph, 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" sepia by Confederate photographer A.J. Riddle showing dozens of decrepit tents and Union prisoners at the infamous Confederate prison, Camp Sumter (Andersonville), Georgia. The pasted-on caption reads: "Union Prisoners of War at Camp Sumter, Andersonville, Georgia North-west View of the Stockade Negative by A. J. Riddle, Aug. 17, 1864". Typical glue stains at edges of photo and caption not affecting image, else very good. $1,500-2,000
