(DUELING OATH) A most unusual and excessively rare partly-printed D.S. 1p. 8vo., Lawrence Co., Al., April 1, 1844, an oath made by Richard Pickett that: "...I have neither directly nor indirectly , given, accepted or knowingly carried a challenge...to any person or persons...to fight in single combat or otherwise with any deadly weapon either in or out of this State...[nor shall I do so in the future]...in any manner whatsoever...during the time for which I am elected..." The first such oath we have ever encountered! Fine. $600-800
