217. (TITANIC RADIO OPERATOR) JOHN G. "JACK" PHILLIPS (1887 - 1912) British chief radio officer aboard the RMS TITANIC, he remained at his post until minutes before the vessel plunged to the bottom. Philllips was lost in the sinking and his body was never recovered. Excessively rare and ironic A.L.S. "Jack" on a postcard with his last name "Phillips" incorporated in the address area, to his sister "Miss E. Phillips" in England, Montreal, Nov. 6, 1906 picturing a ship upon Lake Ontario. He writes, in full: "Uncertain if sent you this card last time or not. Had ice on the deck yesterday morning all the folks sliding up & down in the sun. Glorious day. Love Jack". Of course, this would not be the last ship upon whose deck Phillips would see ice...Fine condition. Phillips is considered one of the few heroes in the Titanic'screw.$800-1,200
