564. WILLIAM M. "BILL" TILGHMAN (1854-1924) Western lawman who served as City Marshall in Dodge City, deputy sheriff under Bat Masterson and later as a U.S. marshal teamed-up with Chris Madsen and Heck Thomas to pursue the Doolin Gang and bring law to the town of Perry. Rare partly-printed D.S. "Wm Tilghman" as Deputy Marshal, 1p. 4to., Guthrie, OK, Nov. 15, 1907. An "Affidavit of Field Deputy to Voucher" for expenses in the amount of $13.80 incurred during the period of Oct. 1 through Nov. 15, 1907, boldly signed by Tilghman at bottom. Folds and horizontal tears at edges, and a small hole at top right, else very good. Tilghman is uncommon in any form.$800-1,200
