565. DR. HAWLEY H. CRIPPEN (1862 - 1910) English physician who murdered and dismembered his wife, burying her remains in his cellar. Crippen then fled by ship with his mistress until his capture by a Scotland Yard detective provoked what was then called the "crime of the century". Rare T.L.S. on his quack "Aural Remedies Co" letterhead, 1p. 4to., written from Pentonville Prison in London, Feb. 24, 1910. Crippen here touts his "Treatment for Deafness, Headnoises, catarrh of the Nose and Throat and Ear Diseases", and includes a detailed questionnaire for the sufferer. Weak folds, signature slightly faded yet still prominent, overall good to very good. $300-400
