c. 1861, Front panel from a Civil War, Patriotic Stationery Kit. Measuring 8 1/2 x 5" and printed in bright red, green and blue on cream, Choice, Near Mint.
This graphic piece includes wonderful illustrations including a man driving oxen and a sailor on the docks to side of the name of this specific portfolio: "The Border States Prize Package." Throughout the cover are illustrations of green state seals. The advertising cover offers the purchaser note sheets and envelopes, a pen and holder as well as "One Piece of Jewelry, Valued at from 15cts. to $3." The package is offered by Mumford & Co. of Cincinnati for a price of 25-cents.
