WILLIAM GREENE, Revolutionary War Governor of Rhode Island and Chief Justice of the Colony.
July 31, 1780, Rhode Island Military Commission signed by William Greene, Choice Fine. 7" x 9.25", numerous clear tape repairs on the reverse along the fold splits, minor paper loss at the fold on the left side of the bottom edge, normal age toning. This is the military appointment of John Carpenter as Lieutenant of the Third Company or "Trained Band" of the Town of Smithfield in the County of Providence, Rhode Island. Boldly signed and with the original paper and wax seal present and intact. A nice-looking document, even with the flaws.
