c. 1760, Four Spout Grease Lamp with Hanger, Fine.
This black 5.5" tall metal lamp has a 4" square base with four spouts, and rust-brown patina. The four spouts would use four wicks to burn various types of oil. The lamp still has the original 7.5" hanger which could be attached to the wall to hold the piece. Whale oil was often used in these popular lamps during the 18th century.
