First Paul Revere Engraved Woodblock Print Illustration in an Almanack!

Almanac Illustration by Paul Revere in "An Astronomical Diary, or Almanack ...1766," Published by Nathaniel Ames, Printed by W. McAlpine and J. Fleeming, Boston, MA, 24 pages, About Fine. Toning and light soiling, hole in two leaves with some minor loss to last few pages. The almanac's pages are 6" x 3.5", loose stitch-bound and Revere's illustration of an eclipse appears on page 17, after the month of December. This is the earliest known example of a Paul Revere engraved woodblock illustration in an almanac! The illustration, as well as several other pages, are covered with period ink notations and calculations on them; otherwise quite well-preserved. Brigham 198; Drake 3147; Evans 9896.
