Revolutionary War Massachusetts Treasury Certificate

December 1, 1777, Colonial Massachusetts Treasury Certificate, Soldier with Sword Vignette, Anderson MA-10, Choice Very Fine.
This State of Massachusetts Bay Treasury Certificate, acknowledges receipt of 82 pounds 15 shillings from Joseph Searl on December 1, 1777, and promises repayment by March 1, 1781 at 6% interest. This 9" x 8" document is signed by H. Gardner as Treasurer, and Scollay, Price and Boyer for the Committee. An ornate border surrounds three sides of this document, and there is a circular vignette in the upper left corner, showing a soldier holding a sword and a scroll inscribed "Independence." This document is in nice condition, with a few small tears in the borders, and 3 small fold tears in the body. Listed in William Anderson's catalog "The Price of Liberty" as MA-10. A wonderful document from the Revolutionary War Era.
