The 14th Massachusetts Regiment Reports Its Strength Following the Revolutionary War Battle of Saratoga in 1777
October 25, 1777, Revolutionary War Manuscript Regimental Strength Report, About Fine.
This large 8.25" x 14.5" table, is dated October 25, 1777 and tallies the strength of the 14th Massachusetts Regiment immediately following its participation at the historic Revolutionary War Battle of Saratoga. Having fought less than three weeks earlier, this regiment was still in that area, assisting in capturing the remainder of Burgoyne's invading, and now retreating, British forces. This document clearly lists the seven companies of the Regiment in multiple rows, and breaks them down in 16 listed columns. There is a great notation concerning men serving with General Daniel Morgan, as well as a listing of an officer who had died as a result of his wounds. The report has some edge wear along with some minor old hinge stains, and the text however remains very clear and legible. A very historic, completely original Revolutionary war field written document.
