c. 1880s, Lot of 6 Engraved Portraits of Revolutionary War Era Figures, Choice Very Fine to Extremely Fine
These original, late 1800s, engraved prints range in size from 8" x 5" to 12.5" x 8.5," all but one of which are printed on heavy paper. The subjects are: John Adams, Walter Livingston, Benjamin Franklin, Jonathan Trumbull, Oliver Ellsworth, and Francis Bernard (Governor of Massachusetts 1760-1769). The engravers include J.H. Daniels (Boston), E. Mackinzie, and Max Rosenthal. The Adams portrait is matted, all the rest are loose. All are in excellent condition, with very minor toning. A nice assortment of 19th Century portraits of prominent Colonial Americans. (6 prints)
