LaFayette Memorial Mourning Ribbon, "GEN. LAFAYETTE. / DIED / May 20, 1834, Aged 76 years / 8 months & 20 days. / Sic Transit Gloria Mundi.," 5.5" x 2.75", Extremely Fine. Black printing on off-white silk, with black crepe attached top and bottom. Print portrait on faux coin is quite impressive. Silk has retained its original crispness. At the time of his death, LaFayette was second only to George Washington as a popular symbol of American independence. Excellent overall condition.
