Uncolored engraving, after an original by "C. Fraser"; 5" x 3.5" oval print of William Moultrie ((1731-1805) in military uniform, wide margins on sheet 8.5" x 5.25", with caption: "William Moultrie Esqr. Late Governor of S. Carolina and major Genl. in the American Revolutionary War". Lightly toned, dampstained sheet, sharp image--a very rare image! In 1776, Moultrie repulsed the British attack on Sullivan's Island, now Fort Moultrie, in Charleston harbor. He served as governor of South Carolina from 1785-87 and from 1792-94.
