c. 1850 Samuel Adams Print, Engraved by Longacre, Choice Mint.
Measuring 4" x 3.25", this print was drawn and engraved by James B. Longacre from a painting by Copley. The 3/4 image of Adams is tipped to a backing page. Longacre was one of the most celebrated engravers of the 19h century, ending his life as the fourth chief engraver of the United States. He is perhaps best remembered for his National Portrait Gallery of Distinguished Americans, published with James Herring between 1834 and 1839.
