John Hoff, Lancaster (PA) Hepplewhite Tiger Maple Tall Case Clock, mahogany veneer broken arch pediment with molded swans neck and turned rosettes with turned central urn finial and turned column supports. Waist having a cut corner top lip molded pendulum door and chamfered corners with cherry sides, cove molding above and below waist, banded and molded base with chamfered corners of mahogany veneer and French bracket feet. 8-day movement with brass works, illuminated dial with hand painted polychrome bird on branch spandrels, moon phase with American clipper ship and cottage scene motifs, Roman numerals with date dial, (case refinished). Exhibited: Heritage Center Museum, Lancaster, PA 1977 and was illustrated in 'Clock Makers of Lancaster Co. 1750-1850' by Stacy B. Wood, Jr. and John J. Snyder, pages 52, 110 and 192, 96-1/2" h., (very good, refinished case).
