Title: History of Woman Suffrage
Author: Stanton, Elizabeth Cady, Susan B. Anthony, and Matilda Joslyn Gage
Description: Volumes 1 through 4 only (of eventually 6). Illustrated with steel engraved portraits. (Thick 8vo) 9½x6¼, original maroon cloth, spines lettered in gilt. Later printings of Volumes 1 & 2, First Edition of Volumes 3 & 4.Volumes 1, 2 and 3 each with a bookplate noting presentation from Miss Susan B. Anthony to the Northwestern Hospital Nurses' Library. Volume 4 with a long inscription from Susan B. Anthony to Mrs. Fannie B. Bigelow on front free endpaper. "I present this huge Volume IV in recognition of your contribution to the printing of this book, but more, because of your valiant work at the last moment in securing the money for the opening of the College doors to women in the autumn of 1900. I shall ever be grateful to you that you called & reminded me of the need, and you went with me, and we got the needed $8000. Blessings on you head, as it will be a blessing to the girls of Rochester in all coming time!! Affectionately your friend, Susan B. Anthony. 17 Madison Street, Rochester, N.Y. 1820-Feb. 18, 1902." Each volume with bookplate comemorating the gift of these volumes to Anthony Junior High School from the Susan B. Anthony collection of Rose Arnold Powell.
