Impressive 18th century Spanish Baroque inlaid papeleira with elaborate gilt bronze mounts, on an associated stand; the pierced gallery top surmounted by six gilt bronze eagles of heraldic form, each perched on an orb, the facade inlaid with contrasting wood in circular and scrolled patterns, six drawers ornamented with heraldic escutcheons and shell work, flank a central architectural door mounted by gilt bronze figures, masks, and floral baskets, opening to reveal four interior drawers with string work inlay, all rising on impressive gilt metal talon and ball feet, the back fashioned from a single board measuring 16.5", restoration overall, cabinet only 32"h, 46.5"w, 15.5"d; early 20th century stand rising on barley twist supports joined by a shaped box stretcher, table 36.5"h, 49.5"w, 17.5"d NOTE: The architectural form of this cabinet reflects the typical Spanish mid 17th century cabinet of the papeleira type which was usually veneered in boulle, ebony and ivory
