German Silver humidor presented to JFK. Silver humidor in perfect condition. The interior is cedar lined and divided into five compartments. The lid is decorated with applied enameled or painted miniatures of the emblems of five United States Army divisions serving in Europe. The circumference of the humidor is decorated with applied enameled or painted miniatures of the North Atlantic Treaty Organizaiton (NATO) member national flags, and the NATO flag. Engraved: "Visit of President John F. Kennedy / United States Army Europe / Fliegerhorst Kaserne / 25 June 1963". 8 1/2 inches in height, 6 inches in diameter, over 10 lbs. in weight. This humidor was presented during the President's trip to West Germany in 1963. President Kennedy stopped for several hours at the United States Army base at Fliegerhorst Kaserne on his way from Bonn to Frankfurt on June 25, 1963. A luncheon was hosted in the troops' mess hall and in attendance, along with the President, were General Lyman Lemnitzer, Supreme Allied Commander, Europe; General Earle Wheeler, Chief of Staff of the Army; and Generals T.H. Landon and P.L. Freeman. At the conclusion of the luncheon, the silver humidor was presented to President Kennedy. The following day President Kennedy delivered his world famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech in West Berlin. Sale History: Guernsey's, March 1998
