The Original Orders given to Lee Harvey Oswald by the Marines in preparation for his release, 1p, 8 1/2" by 10". MACS-9, Santa Ana, California, 1959 September 3. In part, "From: Commanding Officer, Marine Air Control Squadron-9/To: Private First Class (E-2) Lee H. OSWALD 1653230/6741 USMC...You will report to the Commanding General, NCAS, El Toro (Santa Ana), California for separation." Signed "Lee H. Oswald" acknowledging that he received these orders at "0800 on 3 Sept 1959." Three file holes at top blank margin. Full Oswald signatures are extremely rare. With a seond printed sheet, unsigned, 2pp, 8 1/2" by 10", detailing Oswald's and six other Marines' orders. On August 17, 1959, Oswald had applied for a dependancy discharge because he claimed his mother was disabled in an accident. He signed this document on September 3rd. On the 4th, he applied for a passport. He had no intention of staying with his mother. He was released on September 11th, arrived at his mother's Fort Worth home on the 14th. He left on the 17th for New Orleans and on September 20th, Oswald was on the SS "Marion Lykes," for an 18 day voyage bound for Le Havre, France. By October 16, 1959, Lee Harvey Oswald was in Moscow.
