TLS "W. J. Burns" as Director, 1p. Washington, 1924 April 3. Right portion of letter lightly tanned; blank right edge chipped with tears. To General Charles E. Sawyer at the Harding Memorial Association. In part, "I understand that you are being importuned by Lewis E. Sawyer in connection with his troubles in Milwaukee...There has been a factional quarrel going on in Milwaukee and Agent Sawyer has been protecting Agent Vandercook whose resignation has been asked for, and whom he must have known has been acting outrageously. While I would like to do anything possible to please you...we have to convince Mr. Sawyer that he is amenable to the rules and regulations of the service the same as everybody else."
