J. Edgar Hoover American public official; 1st Director of the FBI, 1924-1972. Comprises: TLS as F.B.I. Director, 1p, 8" by 10 1/2". Washington, 1936 March 26. Sending thanks for a letter "wherein you commend the work of the Special Agents of this Bureau." With 5 1/2" by 3 1/2" F.B.I. card signed "J. Edgar Hoover."
