Torch from the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Designed by Peter Mastrogiannis. Made of aluminum and Georgia pecan wood With twenty-two reeds representing the cities, that have hosted the modern summer games. The reeds are bound by two gilt brass rings. The bottom ring has the names of the cities and the top ring has the Atlanta torch logo and the quilt of leaves design. The pecan handle separates the two aluminum shafts and represents the connection of the Olympic flame between heaven and earth. In fine condition, with some scorching to top of reeds. The Olympic flame was transported from Greece. It arrived in Los Angeles on April 27, 1996 for the torch relay. The flame was carried by 10,000 people, and reached Atlanta 84 days later.
