Subtitle: Description:Gerald R. Ford, 38th president of the United States. Typed letter signed, dated August 25, 1967, during his term as a Congressman for Michigan's Fifth District. Ford writes to a constituant on United States Congress stationary regarding a riot in Maryland and the importance of due process of law. Ford writes, "Rap Brown, as you know, is also under indictment for inciting to riot in Maryland. It is obvious that Stokely Carmichael is not loyal to the United States; his recent speeches and actions would in my judgement require his prosecution if he should return to this country." Rap Brown was arrested in Cambridge, Maryland for "inciting to riot". He appeared on the FBI's most wanted list after avoiding trial on charges of inciting riot and of carrying a gun across state lines. Stokely Carmichael was a radical civil rights leader, opposed to those who called for the integration of African Americans into American society. Ford signs in his hand "Jerry Ford." ![]() page for more information about Autographs our Guarantee and Our Company.
