Description:40th U.S. President. 1 page, quarto, on real "White House" memo page with eagle watermark and the historic statement: "Mr. Gorbachev, Tear Down This Wall ! Ronald Reagan -1987 " in calligraphy Signed by the President: "Ronald Reagan" on top. The historical "Tear Down This Wall !" speech was given at the Berlin Wall by Reagan in 1987, and is considered the starting point of the downfall of communism. Three years later, the tearing down of the Berlin Wall symbolized the crumbling of communism and the end of a 70 year era. Reagan's crowning achievements was winning of the Cold War from the Russians, and this Signed quote captures that achievement perfectly. A signed photo with the same statement in Reagan's hand sold at our December 1999 sale for $12,000. The ultimate Reagan item, in excellent condition. Comes with a photo of Reagan making his famous speech at the Berlin Wall.
