oil on canvas (relined), partially signed at lower right, a young widow in mourning dress patiently waits while a pawnbroker appraises her gold ring, the entire scene shrouded in shadow, a single high window illuminating the upper corner, housed in a period gilt wood frame with composition ornament (later gold overpaint). SS 23.5" x 19.5"; DOA 29.75" x 25.75"
