Three Inuit Prints,
as follows: Inuit stencil, "The Dance," matted and framed behind glass, signed lower right by Tommy Nuvaqirq (1911-1982) and Imoona Karpik (b. 1950) in Inukitut syllables, figures in profile and frontal positions are portrayed in a variety of poses to display the movement of a group dance. The stencil is executed in bright, pure colors of the figures' clothing. The place of origin (Pangnirtung), date (1972), title, and names of the artists are written in Inuktitut syllables at the bottom in pencil. DOA 18" x 25.25". (Inuit, 1974) Stone Cut Print, matted and framed behind glass. The print's subject is a seal hunt, in which the hunter is shown in a kayak with a spear held high ready to attack the seals in the surrounding waters. Below the picture is a series of words written in Inuktitut syllables and the date in pencil. DOA 29.25" x 23". (Inuit, 1974) Stone cut print bust portrait of a man. The man is shown in frontal view with enlarged eyes, simplified features and short, textured hair. The portrait is a negative image with the details cut out of a black ground. Below the picture is Inuktitut syllabic writing and the date in pencil. DOA 19.25" x 15". Condition reportNot examined out of frames.
