16th century style with well carved figures including [putti] with trumpets, beasts' heads, griffins, ends with lions' heads, top with helmeted soldier, probably Italian, 19th century, 6-1/8 x 12-1/2 x 5-1/2 in. Chips and losses to carved surfaces, 1 x 1/2 in. chip to rear corner of lid.
