through tenon construction, pierced splat, poplar slip seat inscribed "Elizabeth Purllifer(?)", chamfered straight legs, mellow dark color, middle Atlantic states, late 18th century, 38-3/4 x 20 x 19 in. Good condition with normal wear and abrasions, minor break to splat with two braces at back, formerly fitted with casters. Provenance: The Estate of the Late William L. Montague, Jr., Lookout Mountain, Tennessee
