finely carved and gilt spread-wing eagle on rocky plinth flanked by leaf carving, carved frame, ebonized lining, probably original mirror plate over carved and gilt drop, early 19th century, 38 x 21 in. Very good condition, much original gilding with some wear, cracking and scattered retouch, distress to silvering on mirror plate, other cracks and separations at joints, minor carving repairs and losses, some later bracing to back of carved elements. Provenance: The Estate of the Late William L. Montague, Jr., Lookout Mountain, Tennessee
