script, presentation copy inscribed in blue ink "For John Hertz, the uncritical partner always! That he may be pleased with the result is the sincere hope of [signed] David O. Selznick", titled in gold on full burgundy morocco "Gone With The Wind/Screen Play/John Hertz", gilt top edge, 256 typed pages, seven laid down glossy high contrast studio photographs of scenes from the movie including four of "Scarlet O'Hara" (Vivien Leigh) together with "Rhett Butler" (Clark Gable), 11 x 9 in. Front board nearly separated, moderate edge and corner wear, scuffs and scratches, slight edge browning, two pages with small tears, one with small loss. Provenance: By family tradition: Sotheby's, circa 1977-1987; Collection of Robert Fryer, uncle of the consignor; Private Collection, Asheville, North Carolina David O. Selznick (1902-1965) was the producer of the movie "Gone With The Wind". John D. Hertz (1879-1961) was a financial backer of Selznick, and founder of The Yellow Cab Company and the Hertz rental car company.
