highly figured burlwood veneers overall with rich brown color and probably original surface, kidney shaped with green tooled leather writing surface and burlwood inlaid surround, central drawer with Brahma lock and stamped "Gillow", flanked by two tiers of five drawers with side locks, all in fine burlwood veneers with mahogany secondary, fully finished back with paneled burlwood veneers centering two adjustable veneered shelves, 19th century, 28-1/2 x 51-3/4 x 27-1/2 in. Written in pencil underneath center drawer "Jos(orJas) Uilcock/1868." Excellent condition overall, some minor sun fading, two short drawers with areas of paint enhancement to burlwood figure (possibly as made), normal chips and minor repairs to veneers, surface wear to leather top, one adjustable shelf lacking hardware, fitted with later casters.
