West Mexico, c. Colima, 250 BC - AD 250. A fantastic red ware gadrooned "parrot pot" with tripod legs, each with the body a parrot, the head of the bird facing at the top. Pumpkin styled and compressed round body has shot spout with wide and flat top. In a beautiful shade of dark reddish brown. In heavy ceramic, this is a truly museum quality example. H: 9", diameter of just the flat opening is 6.5". Diameter of entire body of pot is 14". From the Edgar Dorsey Taylor and Edith Liu Collections of Los Angeles. Worthy of a strong bid.
