Godshalk, a mill owner from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, served in the American Civil War in the 153rd Pennsylvania Infantry and went on to serve in the 46th and 47th Congress of the United States from 1879-1883. Grouping includes his diary for his trip to California in 1868, letters from his trip west, numerous cards and invitations from his tenure in Congress as well as photographs, and manuscript material related to his mill business.
