Impressive Centennial Broadside of the Declaration of Independence (DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.) “Centennial Memorial” Advertising Broadside of the Declaration of Independence, presented by Hoyt & Teale (Brooklyn Clothiers), c. 1876, 19.5” x 13,” Choice Very Fine. This impressive reproduction of the Declaration of Independence--printed in black ink on thin, cream-colored paper--includes facsimile signatures at the bottom, along with an advertising card incorporated at lower right. Wrinkled and glued to a cardboard backing, showing, but otherwise as nice and clean as either of the two others that we’ve sold. This rare piece was printed by the Columbian Publishing Company of New York as a Centennial Memorial to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and as advertisement for the Hoyt & Teale. Copyright 1874 by James McBride. Interestingly, a tiny notice at the bottom of the broadside offers a plate paper version with a red seal and no advertising panel for a mere 50 Cents!
