c. 1740s, Original Woodblock & Print of a Fox, Lot of 2, London, England, Choice Very Fine. 2.75” x 3.6” x 1”-thick woodblock, and matching 2.75” x 3.6” uncolored modern print impression from the block, matted to 11” x 8.5.” This particular image of a running fox beneath a large, brimmed cap, would have accompanied a trade card for caps sold at a London shop. (See examples printed on information sheet in lot). The woodblock is stained black from usage, and has six warp splits from age, but is still capable of printing sharp images.
